Fish and Grits is my lastest manuscript and I think my favorite. It is the story of a teenage girl who has been abused by both of her parents (sounds like "Precious" I know but I wrote before I even heard of the book). The protagonist, Kala Johnson finds her freedom in eating a meal that has been forbidden by her father.
My goal with this novel was to make you laugh and cry, put the book down and want more (I'm working on a sequel).
